1607 Massachusetts Avenue
Cambridge, MA 02138
Lana Nadj is a practicing lawyer with a focus on animal rights and welfare from Australia. She has been involved in a range of projects including research into the invidious practice of transporting live animals out of Australia for breeding and slaughter. She has advised in relation to animal transport regulations in Australia, penning density, access to feed and water, freedom of information and site access. Lana is interested in the way we construct legal and cultural categories—such as “invasive species,” “food animals,” and animals as property—and how these categories can continue to be challenged to improve the lives of animals.
Lana has led policy work on a wide range of issues and litigated in the areas of environmental and planning law, and industrial law. She has acted for government departments, councils, unions, individuals and corporate clients. Lana holds an LLM in Animal Law from Vermont Law and Graduate School and an LLM from the University of Sydney, as well as a BA(Hons)/LLB from the Australian National University.
